Sidelined is an iPhone app that helps people stop sports betting by blocking betting apps and websites, with a trusted accountability partner who approves any break. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What stays on your phone
Some of the most personal information never leaves your device:
- The apps and websites you block. Sidelined uses Apple's Screen Time. Apple gives us private codes instead of app names, so even we can't see which apps you chose.
- Your app usage and browsing. We don't collect it at all.
- What betting used to cost you, your streak, and the money-kept estimate.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address, and phone number, used to run your account. Your first name appears in texts to your partner so they know who is asking.
- Your accountability partner: the name, phone number, optional email, and relationship you enter, used only to send them the messages described in our SMS terms.
- Unlock requests: when you asked, any note you added, and your partner's answer.
- Safety events: when you use an emergency unlock, and if Sidelined's Screen Time access is turned off, so your partner can be told.
- Basic app status: when the app was last opened and whether a block is on.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information or use it for advertising. We only share it with services that help us run Sidelined:
- Railway, which hosts our server and database;
- Infobip, which delivers text messages to your partner;
- Resend, which delivers emails, if email notifications are turned on;
- Apple, for the App Store and subscriptions.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party.
How we protect it
All connections use encryption (HTTPS). Account keys and approval links are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form, so a copy of our database couldn't be used to sign in as you or approve a request.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information while your account is active. To delete your account and everything we store about you and your partner, email support@example.com. We'll delete it within 30 days. Deleting the app removes the information stored on your phone.
Age
Sidelined is for adults 18 and over.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for important changes, let you know in the app.
